The doubles team challenge ladder will resume on June 8th. Teams who wish to stay together and retain their place must respond to Daniel McNally, Ladder Manager. New teams will start at the bottom in order of sign-up. The ladder will run until October 24th (subject to change). You can join the ladder at any time, starting at the bottom.
All teams must be available to play within the Stafford, Fredericksburg, & Spotsylvania area. Participation is $10 per team.
CHALLENGING: Teams must communicate directly to the team they wish to challenge. Teams may challenge no more than 5 spots above them - teams in the top 10 may only challenge 4 spots above. Once a challenge date has been set, the match should be played and results will count (despite any intervening changes in standings). If you win, you take their place and they drop down one spot. NOTE: Teams must wait at least 14 days before challenging for a rematch.
AWARDS: We will be recognizing the top men's, women's, mixed, and 55+ teams at the end of the season. Winners will receive prizes.
RANKING SYSTEM: Teams must play a challenge match within 30 days of start date, sign-up date, or last match played. Failure to do so will result in a penalty of 2 spots (except for #1, if they receive no challenges). Failure to reply to a challenge, or failure to be able to play within 10 days will result in an automatic forfeit. Challengers must report a win by forfeit before challenging within the next 4 spots. Teams may decline challenges or use substitutions without losing their spot on the ladder if any player is experiencing or has recently experienced symptoms of illness.
GAME FORMAT: Best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points, win each game by 2. Games will follow USAPA/IFS rules, and team will alternate serve and side in between games. In case of a deciding third game, teams will switch sides after the first team reaches 6 points.
Games shall be played at Kenmore Park unless both teams agree to an alternate location. Games shall be played with a Dura Fast 40 pickleball, unless both teams agree to use a different USAPA approved pickleball such as a Franklin X-40 or Onyx Fuse.
REPORTING: It is the winners responsibility to report the results via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, with a copy to the opponent. Please report as soon as possible and indicate whether the result was decided in two or three games. Updated ladder rankings will be frequently updated on the website and periodically sent out via e-mail to participants.
